About the Artist

I was born in Duluth, Minnesota and have been a woodworker since I crafted my first cutting board in the seventh grade.

The wood I use is most often recycled, acquired from locations I have visited over the years, - my place of work, the shores of Lake Superior, and various Texas roadsides and landmarks.

Although my medium is most often wood, I also love to create objects of art in stained & leaded glass, ceramics and an occasional mosaic.

My focus is to design and build creative yet functional pieces that bring delight to sportsman and wine lovers.

D.R.'s Rock Candles

Our candles are made from various stones, such as Sandstone, Flagstone, Slate, Granite and our newest stone, Honeycomb Calcite which comes from Utah. We drill 2 holes, attach a glass bowl on bottom and insert a fiberglass wick, add oil and will burn for 6/7 hours. Refill and burn again. The construction is such that nothing gets hot except for the tip of the wick, globes and Calcite Cones. Some are decorated with schools and imitation or real flowers can be used without harming them. The base is always cool to the touch.
